Hawaii was one of those places that's been on my bucket list for years so it felt incredible to finally tick it off. After spending the past 5 months travelling SE Asia we were prepared for the prices to be significantly higher but we were still a little shocked by how much we spent. Here is exactly what we spent in 8 days whilst travelling on Oahu, Hawaii.
*prices are all in Australian Dollars
Accommodation: $710.73
Things to consider: we collaborated with one resort and we did receive a discount on our kombi hire.
Food: $472.51
Things to consider: food bills can vary a lot depending on whether you are eating our of cooking at home.
Experiences: $0
Things to consider: we are not big tour people, we much prefer to explore a place ourselves. We hired a kombi camper so we were able to avoid tours by driving ourselves places.
Travel: $295.10
Things to consider: This price does not include our flights. It includes Ubers and taxis.
Laundry: $6.23
Things to consider: We only did one load of laundry.
Shopping: $91.09
Things to consider: this covers any non essential items we purchased like beach toys, clothing etc.
Bank Fees: $21.32
Things to consider: We bank with ING so we do NOT incur any international fees for using our card and we receive 4 free ATM withdrawals per month and after that it is $5. This fee was from booking a flight from our Australian bank account that did not include free international transactions.
Flights: $1769.29
Things to consider: We are a family of 3 and we always book the cheapest flight available. This was a flight from Australia to Hawaii.
Visa: $65.62
Things to consider: This amount covers 90 days in the United States for 2 people.
Medical: $0
That brings our grand total for 8 days of holidaying in Hawaii to $3431.89. Our next stop is road tripping the west coast of the USA so stay tuned for how much spend over there.
